Shawn’s love for design is shaped by the architectural cornerstone of “form follows function”. He believes great design is inherent when the understanding of program, creation of place and fulfillment of mission come together to create a holistic balance. At MSA Shawn takes pride in being a mentor to his colleagues,  passing on the skills he has honed over his career. He believes strongly that a good architect should be keenly aware of the point of convergence between project scope, design, schedule and budget.

 

Shawn, a California native, began his career in Architecture after he found himself captivated with the culture and design of New Mexico’s high desert, He graduated with a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of New Mexico, where his primary focus was on sustainability and alternative building materials. After spending a decade in Design in the American Southwest Shawn returned to his roots in California and began the next phase of his journey, settling in San Francisco and tackling the unique challenges of the Bay Area and surrounding communities. 

 

As a Senior Project Architect Shawn fulfills many roles at MSA, from developing business relationships with new clients, supporting and managing staff, and shepherding projects through all phases of design and construction. Shawn is proficient in Building Information Management and has a keen understanding of three dimensional space and how it affects overall project integration in all disciplines. With over 25 years in the industry, Shawn’s portfolio speaks to his diverse experience including technically challenging Cancer Treatment Facilities, Flagship Showrooms and Service Center’s for electric car manufacture’s, Boutique Fitness Studios and Workplace.
