Senior Designer

Create and develop overall design concepts, formulate design presentation strategies, and provide creative and process leadership to multiple design team(s) through all phases of projects.

Reports to Design Director or Senior Manager.

Supervises Designers and their teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Conceptual design, design development, and construction documentation of one or multiple projects and teams.

  • Coordinate with client, all clients' consultants, and in-house team members.

  • Resolve technical/design issues and provides guidance to team and/or consultants.

  • Formulate design presentation strategies.

  • Have extensive knowledge of current industry trends.

  • Provide the leadership, management and mentoring of the design team being supervised.

  • Drive the conceptual design and design development for assigned projects and clients.

  • Developing overall project budgets.  Reviews and produces Final cost estimates.

  • Collaborate with all Associate and Senior levels in business development activities as necessary.

  • Participate in generating tools, ideas for methods and processes to increase productivity of firm.

  • Communicate employee development of project designers and their teams to Design Director.

  • Assist with staffing of projects and staffing projections.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7-15 years planning experience on retail, hospitality, or workplace projects required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of design or architecture.

  • A passion for design and business trends.

  • A positive and collaborative work style.

  • Experience creating and developing overall design concepts and formulating design presentation strategies.

Designer

Responsible for design development through construction documentation for work space interiors, hospitality, and retail roll-out projects. Supervises staffs workload.

Reports to Project Designer, or Senior Designer. Supervises and monitors Assistant Designers as required.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Assist Project Designer or Senior Designer with their projects.

  • Collaborate with client, consultants and in-house team members on architecture and interiors projects

  • Work with project team to ensure that client’s design direction is met.

  • Assist in formulating and generating design presentations.

  • Knowledge of commercial furniture and finish resources.

  • Responsible for working within project budgets and obtains cost estimates.

  • Selects, coordinates and produces color, material, hardware, furniture, and fixture specifications.

  • Responsible for the production of all interior design documentation and detailing.

  • Experience and ability to conduct accurate field surveys expeditiously.

  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a diverse team environment.

  • Mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate and Designers.

  • Ability to design in compliance with American with Disabilities Act requirements and all relevant local codes.

  • Communicate employee development of assistant designer(s) to project designer.

  • Provides information for annual performance reviews as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-7 years design & planning experience on retail or commercial projects. Hospitality, workplace interiors or retail background and experience desired.

  • Degree from an accredited architecture or design school.

  • Knowledge of architecture, design, space planning, drafting, building materials, building codes, and construction.

  • A good understanding of client customer service focus.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with project teams.

  • Ability to complete tasks accurately and with a strong attention to detail.

  • A strong sense of urgency and ability to work with multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities of fast-track projects.

  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles desired.

  • Advanced AutoCAD & Revit skills.

DRAFTER III

Team member primarily responsible for leading the documentation process and production of project documents.

Reports to a Job Captain, Project Architect or Project Manager.

Support Drafter I and II Levels and Interiors staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsible for providing complete drafting and assembly of construction documents and completed plans.

  • Provide for or assist team coordination with Drafter I or Drafter II positions.

  • Collaborate with lead team members, and consultants to deliver the requested documents required to meet the client’s schedule.

  • Ability to bring existing client drawings into compliant Revit and technical standards.

  • Ensure quality assurance of drawings and implement redline corrections.

  • Extensive Architectural drawing production: design, construction documents, as-builts, space planning, block planning, plotting, etc.

  • Experience and ability to conduct accurate field surveys expeditiously.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5+ years drafting experience on retail, hospitality or workplace interiors projects.

  • Degree from an accredited architecture or design school desired.

  • Advanced Revit skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows environment.

  • 3D modeling and Adobe Creative Suite experience beneficial.

  • A detail-oriented and organized approach to work.

  • A strong sense of urgency and ability to work with deadlines.

PROJECT MANAGER

Responsible for leading the efforts of various team members, including architects, designers, job captains, drafters, consultants, and client through all phases of projects.

Reports to Senior Project Manager, Senior Architect or Principal level. Supervision can include architects, designers, job captains, and drafters.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Create and execute project work plans.
  • Identifies resources needed and assign appropriate staff.
  • Manages day to day operational aspects of projects.
  • Manages scheduling, budgets and the staffing of team members.
  • Reviews team deliverables before issuing to client.
  • Proactively resolves issues and provides guidance to teams.
  • Provide for excellent client service and communication.
  • Effectively applies MSA methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Provides mentoring to junior staff.
  • Monitors direct reports program and provides input for annual performance reviews.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8-12 years’ experience in the industry with experience leading project teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, design or construction.

  • Strong leadership, management, and monitoring skills.

JOB CAPTAIN / JOB CAPTAIN II

Team member primarily responsible for managing the documentation process of the project in close coordination and collaboration with project supervisor.

Reports to Project or Senior Project Architect, Designer, or Manager. Supervises assigned Drafter levels.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Provide project team coordination and/or supervision for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.

  • Prepare and ensure accurate technical documents.

  • Extensive architectural drawing production: design, construction documents, as-builts, space planning, block planning, plotting, etc.

  • Work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.

  • Communicate employee development of drafters to project manager.

  • Responsible for project level verbal and written client communication.

  • Coordination and communication with team and engineer consultants.

  • Communicate drafter’s development with project architect and/or senior associate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2-6 years of progressive drafting experience on retail, hospitality, or workplace interiors projects.

  • Excellent communication and management skills

  • Degree from an accredited architecture or design school desired.

  • Advanced Revit skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows environment.

  • 3D modeling and Adobe Creative Suite experience beneficial.

  • A detail-oriented and organized approach to work.

MARKETING COORDINATOR

Responsible for managing the marketing activities of the firm, by planning, and executing marketing strategies.  Primary market sectors are retail, hospitality and workplace interiors.

Reports to Business Development Manager, Directors, or Principal Levels.

 

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Plan marketing activities with the BizDev Manager, Principals & design staff to produce qualifications, proposals, presentations and other marketing collateral directly related to client and project pursuits.

  • Works with technical staff to develop proposals, and scopes of work. Assists in presentations as requested.

  • Assists in quality control (ensuring consistency in branding, format and content), editing and writing (selected content) of proposals, and continuing improvements of proposal/interview development.

  • Develops marketing collateral (brochures, direct mail and email releases, etc.).

  • Manage public relations (press releases, awards, publications,  sponsorships, etc.).

  • Responsible for summarizing project descriptions and firm information, and supplementing website content.

  • Coordinates logistics for product photography.

  • Monitors ongoing industry market trends to evaluate the need for adjustments to short term and long term efforts.

  • Ensures through marketing and MSA brand promotion activities a market presence of the company directed to the four primary industry sectors.

  • Participates and/or presents at industry events, forums, or conferences as a representative of MSA.

  • Conduct proper research and surveys to tap the prospective customer base.

  • Tracks financial performance and response rate of marketing efforts.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years professional marketing/communications experience.

  • Minimum two years of experience in marketing A/E/C services (architecture, commercial interior design, engineering, construction, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, journalism, and communications, business administration, or related field required.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent writing and formatting skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Must work well under pressure in a high paced and stressful environment.

  • Working collaboratively with others, both within and outside the company.

  • Strong decision-making capabilities with little assistance.

  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.  Strong graphic design skills developed through formal education or work experience.

  • A sense of humor.
